MightyVinyl.com is the labor of love of Mikel Orsborn, a music fanatic and record collector in Seattle WA. It began in the mid-to-late 70's with the purchase of rare "progressive rock" vinyl and memorabilia through local shops and record collector magazines, with the core of the collection originally focused on artists such as Genesis, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, ELP, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush and Mike Oldfield. Searching thrift shops, used record stores, and estate sales, the collection began to grow into other areas, and working at Everybody's Record Co. in Seattle in the early 80's added a few thousand promotional posters and albums to the burgeoning collection.
Over the ensuing years, the collection grew from a hobby to a hobby business with the creation of "Supper's Ready Collectibles" at the dawn of the internet commerce age in 1990. The name proved too unwieldy for customers to remember, so the change in 1997 to "MightyVinyl.com" proved to be a more user-friendly choice. Although Industrial Sales remains my full-time "day job", the music and collectibles business is my passion. The collection that began in the 1970's with a few dozen items has today grown to nearly 50,000 pieces, with thousands of items added every year.
